Language Departments comprise Department of English, Department of Hindi and Department of Malayalam. The faculty of the three language departments engage Language Courses and Additional Language Courses which are a part of the syllabi of the three programmes – BA Economics, BSc Physics and BCom Tax Procedures and Practice 2(a) – offered at this college.

The Language Departments offer Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC), Multi-Disciplinary Courses (MDC), Value Addition Courses (VAC) and Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) in the newly introduced Four Year Under Graduate Programme (FYUGP) in 2024.
 

DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

Department of English comprises one permanent faculty and one faculty on contract basis. They manage the 22 hours allotted to complete the syllabi of the English Language Courses which are common to BA, BSc and BCom programmes. It is mandatory for the students of BA & BSc programmes to study 3 English Language courses (Language Course 1, 3 & 4) and 1 English Foundation Course (Foundation Course 1) in the two semesters of their first year and 2 English Language Courses (Language Course 6 & 8) in the two semesters of their second year. Students of BCom Tax Procedures and Practice 2(a) have to compulsorily study 4 English Language Courses (Language Couse 1, 3, 5 & 6) in the four semesters of their first and second years.

In FYUGP, Department of English offers 4 Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC), 3 Discipline Specific Courses (DSC), 1 Multi-Disciplinary Course (MDC), and 4 Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) in 6 consecutive semesters.

Dr Ambu R. Nair got permanent appointment as Assistant Professor of English at Sree Sankara College in 2022. He is an alumnus of University of Kerala in his graduate, post-graduate and doctoral degree.
